Client: ColourBolt / Moulton Cycles
THE BRIEF...
ColourBolt launched this truly stunning collaboration bike with Moulton Cycles at the end of 2018. The X-Black sees the bespoke builder’s ‘Drenched Black’ paint finish applied to one of Moulton’s oldest, most revered frames, known simply as the X-frame.
We wanted to help ColourBolt tell this story and try to capture the little details that make this luxury single-speed really special. Moulton is one of the most respected names in cycling with a storied history and their iconic ‘criss cross’ frame designs, while ColourBolt is a small custom bicycle business known for putting innovative paint finishes on their premium road and urban machines.
Combining the two produced a stunning machine, one that needed some amazing cycling lifestyle photography to do it justice.
What we did
As soon as we got the brief, we engaged our go-to photographer of choice, Matt Grayson. Matt took the bike to the streets of London where it was always intended to be ridden to create a suite of lifestyle images that could be used to promote the launch.
DID IT WORK?
We put the images out to press and saw pick-up immediately, with specialist custom bike blogs and general purpose lifestyle sites getting involved.
